Still here

It's been a while since an update. Not much has been happening around here. Kian's last weight was 13 1/2 pounds, so he's doing great. We started him on solids, and after a slow start is getting use to the idea. So far he's had rice cereal, sweet potatoes, and pears. He's still not to keen on rolling over on his own, but he will if you give his leg a nudge in the right direction. Our current goal is to get him to recognize and play with his own feet.

Kian had a sedated MRI this week, just a scheduled follow-up on his shunt. Our neurosurgeon said his brain looks good and there is nothing there to worry about. When I asked him about the injury from his grade 4 IVH, Dr. Walker said, "I don't see it." So after all the gloomy images from head ultrasounds and CT scans, his brain "looks good." Now, that wasn't an official MRI report, just the neurosurgeon looking at the images, so that verdict might change, but I can't tell you how happy I was to hear that. No cysts, no cavitation, just brain. YAY!

Kate continues to make us laugh everyday. She says some of the funniest things, and uses body language that makes her seem so dramatic. Lily is such a big girl now and has been a great helper and a peacemaker these past few days. They spend a lot of time watching movies and doing PBSkids.org. Come on, spring! We keep track of the RSV situation on Germwatch (just google germwatch utah, it'll get you there. It's through IHC). Hopefully the rate of RSV will start coming down soon. It hasn't peaked yet. Once it comes down, then we can start getting out of the house more. Pictures (and maybe some videos) to come soon!

8 months old

We decided to spike Kian's hair one night before his bath. I finally convinced Chris it would be OK if we evened out Kian's hair on the top, so right after these pictures I trimmed his hair a little bit. You can hardly tell.

Making building out of marshmallows and toothpicks. Fun activity.

Kate being a princess.

Another activity trying to keep the girls entertained: dishsoap bubbles.

Chris says this is what happens to me after being confined to the house for two months.
